Almay Smart Shades Perfect and correct Primer Review

Yet another find from Australia. This one I picked up in Gloss for $12.95.

What it says:

  • Instantly smooths and colour corrects skin.
  • Lavender to even out and brighten skin tone. Green to reduce redness.
  • Lightweight formula can be used alone or underneath foundation.
  • Hyper allergenic
  • Dermatologicaly tested
  • oil-free

How to use:

Smooth primer onto face using fingertips and blend outwards. Apply before foundation for a perfectly-prepped canvas.

My thoughts:

The lavender and green swirls through the primer looks impressive. But outside of the bottle, not so impressive. It just looks like a mess. Anyway the texture is a little greasy at first but it does go on nicely. It doesn't do much for colour correcting and I didn't notice it making my foundation lasting dramatically longer or anything. Saying that as a prep for the skin before applying foundation it great. My skin feels like I've applied a moisturiser with out the heavy feeling of a moisturiser. At first I kept pressing it to hard and getting loads of product i didn't need or want. When i say a tiny bit is needed I mean a tiny bit is all you need. It spreads so easily across the skin. Overall as a colour correcting primer not so great but as a product to mositerise your skin before applying foundation it works really well. It moisterises the dry skin with out it making the oily areas worse. Not the best primer in the world but not the worst I do still use this regularly and do like it.

Irish Beauty Show 2015

Yesterday I went to the Irish Beauty Show in the RDS. I'm so excited to try some of the new products I bought and I just thought I'd write a little about what I did buy and why. I will do proper review of the things that I bought if I haven't already.

My make up and hair for the day. Before the wind got to my hair that is.

So this is what I got.

Royal Effem Long lash mascara
Nero 0042
I have had Royal Effem products before and really like the brand. I have been looking for a new mascara and this one being €2 I thought why not give it a go.

Dream Dots.
I have heard and seen so much about these but never got around to trying them. When I saw the stand yesterday I went over for a quick look and chat. After being told all about how they work I was definitely buying myself some. My sister also wanted some and as they where being sold yesterday for €15 for two box's we got one each. There is 24 dots per box. I can't wait to try these out and do a review about them.

Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff
I love Cocoa Brown and my favorite product of theirs is Tough Stuff. It's just such a good scrub. I have a review I previously did about this which you can find by clicking Here. They had two products for €10 yesterday. I bought two of these one for myself and one for my sister. She had been at the show the day before me but had forgotten to go back and get one. It was here first time at the Irish Beauty Show and I think she fascinated buy how much was there.

YLash Individual Lashed
Short Black.
I can never have enough of these. I wear them all the time as my lashed are not very thick even with mascara on they just don't stand out at all. These where buy 2 get 1 free and only €3.97 per pack.

Royal Effem
Natural reflecting foundation
Natural silk
I picked these up while buying mascara they where only €1 each and I have had one before and really liked it. These are only little sample sized but great for fitting in makeup bags.

Fuscia Makeup
Highlighter in Pearly Pink
Trial Size
My sister came home with one of these and let me try it out. I loved it so I went looking for it as well as getting my sister another one. I think it's very similar to high beam by Benefit which I have almost run out of. The bast part is it was only €2 for the trial size. I don't mind the trial size as I find I don't go through that much highlighter compared to every other piece of make up I own. So although it's small it will probably last me a little while

My New Face Routine

Some times I feel like make up removing products don't always take everything off. I feel limited to what I use as my skin tends to have reactions to certain products so I try not to over do the amount of products I use or change them around a lot.

Most days I don't wear that much make up and some days I don't even bother. I like to give my skin a break once or twice a week from make up. On night's out I do wear a good amount and sometimes break out after even though I have removed it all and cleansed my face. This is where I feel it's not removing it all.

So on a recent trip to Penney's ( I know it sounds like I'm there a lot) I saw these and thought I have to buy them. I think these thoughts a lot and this is why I'm always broke, well that and I keep leaving the country and flying to the other side of the world for a few months. At first the brush felt a little stiff and I wasn't sure if it would be to rough on my skin but once I used it I noticed it was much softer then I first thought and the sponges feel very similar to ones I have bought in the beauty shops. Not bad for €2.50 for both.

After removing my makeup with makeup remover I applied my usual cleanser to my face and then using the brush I used a circular motion to rub the cleanser into my skin. After I was finished I dipped the sponged in some luck warm water and and removed the cleanser. Each time I wiped of some cleanser of my face with the sponge I used a different part for the next area of my face and rinse the sponge when I needed to. I felt like my face was so clean after and all I needed to do was apply some moisturiser and I was done.

February Favourites

I haven't ever done a favourites post before but this month I have had so much that I like that I decided to do one. I have six products that I would like to talk about, some I have already reviewed and some I have only just found or repurchased.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I know that everyone and their mother must know about this product by now and actually my own mother has actually started to use it and really likes it and mainly for the same reason that I do. It's not the first time I've used this. I have actually just repurchased it after not using it for a month or so and have started to love it all over again. This is so gentle on my skin but also leaves a really nice clean feeling. I use it to remove my make up as well as a cleanser for daily use when I'm not even wearing makeup. I suffer from eczema especially around my eyes which flares up very easily and I find a lot of cleanser or make up removers sting my eyes leaving them irritated and red for a while. Once something does irritate it it takes a few day to clam down. I haven't had any irritation from this at all which is such a relief. It also lasts forever, well not actually forever but takes a lot of use to even make a good dent in it. I use it every morning before putting on anything on my face and again at night when taking off make up.

Boots Time Delay.

This is a double action containing Instant Tautening Gel and Anti Aging Cream.

This month I tuned 27 and I know that's not old or anything (please don't tell me it is, I'm still trying to convince my self its not) but I know I should start using some anti aging products to prevent aging and I have always taken care of my skin and don't want to neglect it now. My sister recommended this and the fact that I should be using it ( thanks Ais if your reading this :/) and at first I was maybe a little insulted but then relished I should be in fact be using something like this.

It smells nice which is what I first noticed. It feels lovely on, it's not a heavy cream or gel and its not sticky. It absorbs really well and leaves my skin soft and although it has an instant tightening effect form the taunting gel it doesn't feel like my skin is tight and stuck. I use it twice daily once in the morning and once in the evening. It's not an expensive product and it's definitely cheaper then similar product from different brands. I have always liked boots brand products and found them good quality this is included in this.

Essence XXXL Long Lasting lip gloss
Shade 07 Silky Red

I recently posted a review of this which you can have a look at HERE so I won't go on to much about it. What I will say is that the Matt Effect of this lipgloss is great and it is definitely long lasting I have no faults with it what so ever and being Essence is not going to make a dent on your pocket either.

Essence Like an unforgettable kiss fragrance

This definitely makes it to the favourite list because I just can't stop using it. I love the smell so much I can't get enough of it. It's fruity and floraly and to me smells of summer and so girly. Yet again not expensive at all. It was under €8 another reason to love Essence. I did a full review recently which you can check out HERE .

Thanks for stopping by my blog feel free to leave your blog links for me to check out as I love finding new blogs to read and follow. xx Neads

Essence XXXL longlasting Matt effect lipgloss review

I recently bought this Lipgloss from Essence and had to do a review of it after wearing it I love it so much. This is the Shade 07 Silky Red.

This is my favourite lip product at the moment for three reasons.

1. The Look and feel.

It feels silky and creamy on, it's not sticky or thick. The texture feels really nice on and light. It's not a lipgloss that makes your lips feel like they might stick to each other or a glass. Then there's the Matt effect. I have seen so many people wearing Matt lips but wasn't sure if it was for me. The words lipgloss and Matt effect don't sound to me like they go together but actually they do and the Matt finish is fantastic. It's no lie that I love my lip glosses, who doesn't love a nice creamy shiny lipgloss ( maybe just me lol) but sometimes it's nice to mix things up a little and I do love my lipsticks and matts these day a little more then shiny.

2. The Colour

The colour is just right. It's just the right shade of red, not to dark and not orangey toned like some other reds. I think this shade is good for my skin tone. I'm quite pale especially right now since my tan seems to have disappeared already :(. There is nothing worse then a red that makes you look so pale someone asked if your feeling all right. This has happened to me before and I've learnt my lesson.

3.It Lasts

It is actually long lasting. The first time I wore this I only had to reapply once over the whole night, even after sipping away on a few drinks. I hate when you apply a lipstick or gloss take one sip of a drink and have to reapply constantly.

Overall this is a great lipgloss and it's such a bargain it was under €4. I bought this in Penney's as an impulse buy because who can walk past the makeup stands in Penney's and not pick up something on the way to the tills.... no one, well not me anyway. I think I'd like to try some of the other shades of this too maybe pink because I do love pink lol.

Essence "Like and Unforgettable Kiss" Fragrance Review

The first thing I thought of when I first had a smell of this was "this is what summer smells like". If your anything like myself then you can't get through summer with out a gorgeous summer fragrance. First of all I know it's not actually summer right now but it's so cold and miserable out during these winter days that spraying this all over myself makes me feel a little better about the cold.

This cost me just under €8 and for the price I'm very impressed it lasts so long on, I would have assumed it would fade quite quickly but no it's long lasting. The smell is the biggest plus of course and then there's the packaging its so adorable and the little ribbon on the bottle of so cute.

My best way to describe this is fruity and floral at the same time. I love fruity and floral fragrances they always remind me of fresh summer days or holidays. I picked this up in Penney's and it was the only one left. I have a feeling that I might want to pick up another to put away as I'm already going through this one fast.

Australis Primer Review

I picked this primer up in Priceline while I was in Australia and have been using it alot so thought I would do a little review of it.

What it says:

  • Prevents foundation fading
  • Smooths and refines skin texture
  • Locks in moisture
A specialized foundation primer that fills fine lines, preventing skin from absorbing foundation to extend we arability for longer lasting, flawless finish.

How to use:

Using fingertips, apply a layer of primer. Cover the face concentrating on the eye area and skin zones that are deeply lined or rough in texture. This will provide a smooth base for your foundation. Use primer prior to the application of foundation.

My thoughts:

The texture is different to other primers I have used. It feels more like a moisturiser. it does feel nice to apply and doesn't leave a sticky or thick feeling on the skin. It actually feels like having nothing on the skin which is nice. My skin feels so soft after applying this. I have worn this a lot and it definitely does make my foundation last longer as it says. When I first bought it my make up was almost melting off my face by the end of a hot day. I do suffer from oily and dry sensitive skin and for me this worked well for both. It's a 40ml tube and even after using it this last while it's still pretty full. You really only need a little of this as it spends quite well and leaves my skin soft and foundation goes on very well over this.

What I bought in New Look

This outfit looks so 90's and I love it. I was in NewLook having a browse around and I saw this skirt which I have seen before in a different colour and regretted not buying it. Its high wasted and sort of like a soft tweed. The high waist part about it remind me of a school skirt but still its fantastic.

I saw the top and instantly new it would go together. It's like a polo but not to big at the neck if that makes sense. I also think I had one just like it when I was little. Strange how these things come back in style.

I then picked up the shoes. The shoes ended up being a bargain and the cheapest part of this outfit at only €7. I don't normally where black shoes I actually hate black shoes normally and don't think I've owned a pair in years. Apart from work/school shoes I would never willing buy a pair so this did surprise me that I went straight for them. I also haven't worn any heels in about a year since I hurt my calf and knee. I'm very accident prone and was a bit worried but when I did wear them out I brought flats and changed as soon as my leg start to hurt a bit.  I really don't need to spend a month on crutches this year lol.

I wore this with black tights and a long necklace with a leaf design. I unfortunately didn't take any photo's of the outfit on which is typical me lol.

Recent Baking

At the start of the month was my youngest sisters 21st. I was in charge of the cake making. I knew I had to do something different for this one so I went with black icing and neon colours. The best part was the inside. I wanted it to look great when it was cut open. This is why I went with multicoloured cake and cut a hole in the middle and filled it with smarties. I also iced it in chocolate fudge before putting the sugarpaste on. The cake didn't last very long with everyone at the party, which I take as a complement.

This is the second cake I made which was for my Aunty's 40th Birthday last weekend. I wanted to do something different but girly at the same time. I have been dying to give a sprinkles cake a go for so long. I was afraid that it might go all wrong but in the end it turned out great and I found it really fun to make. I did however get sprinkles everywhere in the kitchen including under the dryer and even found some in my hair later on lol. It seems to be like glitter it gets everywhere. I bought the big bag of sprinkles in Decobake on Bachelors Walk a couple of weeks ago thinking I would need it all but surprisingly I didn't actually need loads. I may have over estimated it aswell and bought a 1kg bag of sprinkles. I have since bought a jar to store them all in and I'm already working out ideas to use them up.
