Easter

I started off my Easter morning by going to the battle of Clontarf festival in St Annes park in Raheny. They had viking boats on display as well as tents and a craft fair with people dressed as vikings and selling things from that time. This is where I got my silver coin. There was a man making them by hammering the imprint into them like they would all those years ago. They also had a reenactment of the battle but unfortunately there was a lot of people there and I was too small to see over them :(. But still it was very good.

After the festival it was all hands on deck to get dinner made. In my house Easter dinner is like Chirstmas , it always has been more about a family meal them chocolate eggs not that chocolate isn't important. For dinner we had Ham, Turkey, Mashed potatoes, lots of veg, roast potatoes, home made croquet's (which I usually make but have now thought my sister to make), Yorkshire puddings ( I was up late the night before making these in advance) and of course the best stuffing in the world (my dads recipe). Ohh and not to forget Bisto gravy because no proper dinner is complete with out it.

I didn't make desert so instead after dinner ran to the shop ( I say ran but since hurting my leg it's more like a slow hobble) and myself and my sister treated everyone to icebergers, which went down a treat. After recovering from a very heavy dinner (and maybe a nap.. my leg was very sore at this stage)  it was time to relax with a glass of chilled Preseco and a bit of Easter egg.

Best Moisturiser for dry skin.

I have been suffering with eczema my whole life. Some times its can be mild, others it can be severe. I was told over and over that I would grow out of it but unfortunately I didn't. I have learnt to adjust to it but it will always cause problems no matter what I do. I have to be very careful what products I use and eating certain foods can all cause it to flare up. The best thing I can do is to make sure my skin is well moisturised and that I don't use products like washing powder, soaps or perfumes that will affect it.

The best product I can recommend is Silcocks Base.

This stuff is amazing it can be used as a moisturiser or as a soap substitute by applying it to the skin and then gently washing it of. I use it everyday and recommend buying the 500g tube which is usually between €4 and €5 depending where it's bought. I even use it to take off make up by applying it to my face and gently rub it in then remove with a wet face cloth. It's also great to use intead of a shaveing gel or foam. I literally use it all the the time to wash my face, as soap to wash my hands, in the shower instead of shower gel and of course as a daily moisturiser. The list goes on. I even have others in the house using it. My mam told me she used to put a spoonful of it in the bath when I was a baby. It keeps my skin soft without it feeling heavy or greasy and although it may not seem like it but it does clean my skin very well. It also come in a smaller tube that you can take with you instead of lugging around a huge tub.

So if you suffer from eczema, dermatitis, dry/sensitive skin or are just looking for a good moisturiser then this will definitely be for you.

You can buy it in most chemists and can get it online from Mccabes pharmacy Here

Gluten Free Pancake Recipe

As it is almost pancake Tuesday I thought I world share my recipe for gluten free pancake. I love pancakes and these are very easy to make and taste great too. In the past I have tried out recipes that where unnecessarily complicated sometimes its better to keep things simple. My favourite topping is marshmallows and chocolate buttons but also nothing beats plain old sugar.

Today's nails :)

Today's nails are silver with multucoloured glitter. I used Kate Spade New York by Nails inc in soho silver. I also used the glitter nail polish that I got in H&M last week. I had to use two coats of the glitter as not very much glitter went on the first coat, but still I love how it turned out.

Stuff I bought this week

I am supposed to be on a budget and in major saving mode but I sort of went a bit off it this week and bought a few things. In my defense the most expensive thing here that I bought was the pink runners that were a whole €8. Everything else was under €3.50.

The eye shadow brush I got from H&M, It's called smokey eye shadow brush and is double ended. I got around to using it today and I really like it. it blends colours quite well and is very soft. I also bought the glittery nail polish in H&M as well but haven't used it yet but can't wait to I love glitter especially glittery nail polish.

I also picked up a new mascara in Pennys. I got the NYC Big and Bold Volume mascara (the big yellow one). I have heard a lot of good things about this mascara and couldn't wait to get my hands on one but until today I couldn't find one. I now understand why others love it so much, my eyelashes look amazing! They are definitely big and have volume. Think I might pick up another one and put it away as I have a habit of losing mascara and eyeliner.

Again in Pennys I came across a lovely eye shadow palette and eye shadow brush which are part of the P.S Love... collection. The brush is double ended. I'm not a big fan of the brush I have very sensitive skin on my eyelids and found the brush a little rough, but it was only €1.50 so I didn't really expect that much from it. On the other hand I really love the eye shadow palette. It has a few glittery colours such as a shimmery navy  shade and a bronze which I love. I like all the shades in this palette and while trying it out found that they work very well together to create some nice looks.

I got the pink runners in Pennys as well but an very disappointed. I love these little runners that they have and have always bought a size 6 but when I got these home I tried them on and they where tiny! They may have been labeled a six but where more like a 5. I couldn't even get my whole foot into them. This will teach me to try them on in the shop from now on and at least my sister who is a size 5 is very happy with her new pink runners.

Bright nails to brighten up my week.

I talked my sister into doing my nails. I love having someone else do them for me, they last so much longer then when I do them myself. They look a bit orange/red but its actually a pinky colour called OMP (oh my pink) from Nails Inc and a top coat Nail Nurse by Rimmel. So far not a chip has come off although I did break one nail putting something in the boot and I'm gutted. :(

My Week

So my week started off a bit crap having to start a course of antibiotics for an infection. But this week it was also my birthday and got some lovely presents and cake from my sisters and parents. My younger sister made my cake which was so delicious it was chocolate and vanilla butter cream decorated with chocolate and she even put my name on it.

From my sisters I got and e-reader and am so delighted with it because I have been looking at buying one for myself but wasn't really sure which to get but they got me a great one and have already put some Nicholas Sparks books on it and started to read one.

My Mam and Dad got me a drawer unit that I have been looking at in Ikea. I want it to fit under a little desk I have. They asked me what I would like and it's all I could think of haha. Anyway I'm happy to finally be able to sort out some of my things into it and now all I have to do is reorganize the area to put it in.

I also joined slimming world this week. I had been a member before but left when I was losing track of things when I was busy and having some problems with my stomach so decided to give it a break and now that I am back on medication and my stomach is finally feeling a little better I thought it was time to go back. I am trying to stick to the plan as best I can which I find hard when on antibiotics because they give me such bad heartburn and a false hunger. I am eating a lot of fruit and free food to help stay on track. I have sort of set my self a goal for the next 27 weeks. I hope I am not being to ambitious but I know if I put my mind to it I can do it. My hope is to lose 2 pounds a week but I would still be happy to lose 1 as well. I am going to do my best and really try this time and hopefully it works well for me I even got some raspberry today which I'm not sure I even like but I'm determined to start eating more fruits and veg even just one new one at a time. My first weigh in is on Thursday and today I am planning all my meals and am even making some to freeze for the day's that I don't feel like cooking. I always do better when I'm really prepared.

Argan Oil Hair Mask

Argon Oil hydrating hair mask with Moroccan argon oil extract intense conditioning treatment.

Over the last year my hair has been in bad condition. This time last year my hair was bleached almost every month but then I went back to or at least tried to go back to my natural hair colour. My hair was really bad from the bleach so I thought  I should give it a break for a while which I did. In almost a year I have only dyed it 3 times. I also had a problem with my hair thinning out not from the colour because it has happened before but it got very thin compared to my usually so thick it's hard to control hair. I was left with a few thinned out patches but it's starting to come back now. I tried a lot of treatments and hair masks to bring it back to being shiny and help with the dry straw like condition it was in. This is my favourite, it smells a little odd and kind of reminds me of paint that kids use in playschool haha. Anyway I didn't let that put me off. The first time I used it I was impressed. I had only paid €1.50 for it and had bought it because I had gotten a shampoo like it and really liked it.

The directions on it says that after shampooing hair, towel dry and apply from root to tip. It then says to leave it in for 7-10 mins then rinse it out and use argon oil conditioner for better results. What I have been doing is shampooing my hair with argon oil shampoo of the same make, applying this mask and leaving for about an hour then rinsing and using the argon oil conditioner. After towel drying it I apply argon oil through my hair and use an argon oil heat defense spray. All this products are of the same make and can be picked up in the Euro General Shop for about €1.50 each.

The condition of my hair is great, it does need a trim badly but beside that its shinny and getting easier to manage. I can actually comb it and the comb doesn't break. It's so good for hair that tangles easily. I use this once a week and all the other products on a more regular basis.
